The Objectives of deWaLoP

The main objectives of the project are

  • to develop a methodology to rehabilitate lead joint sockets of grey cast iron pipes without the need for digging. This can be reached through the development of a remote-controlled robot which is able to apply a sealing material, which is especially developed for drinking water pipes (work package 3),
  • to increase the operational safety of the pipeline networks by the implementation of a water balancing model to foresee and eliminate in time critical care situations (work package 4),
  • to exchange know how between waterworks in form of technical excursions,
  • to perform a pilot testing of the developed material, robot and model in both cities to guarantee the exchange of the recently gained knowledge (work package 5).
